Could Juliet really be pregnant??
A reporter said she had caught a shot of Juliet at a beach and noticed her belly looked a bit swollen. She wondered “Could she be pregnant?”. Juliet admitted she was with a boy few days earlier, before Romeo was banished, yet she refused to name who she was with. Some people believe it was Romeo, some people say it was Paris, others thought it was Mercutio, Romeo’s best friend and Paris’s relative. Juliet was seen on March 25th shopping for baby clothing. Once she was seen at a local pharmacy store, buying a pregnancy test. Her father, Lord Capulet, is suspicious of her doings and has once confronted her publicly about it. How embarrassing for Juliet! A hotel guest who said that night Juliet checked in the hotel, she heard noises from the bedroom Juliet was in. “It sounded like Juliet was having sex and enjoying it” the guest said. The reporters have asked Romeo, Paris and Mercutio if they had sex with Juliet. Romeo raised his eyes and said with a devious smile, “Maybe”. Paris refused to comment and Mercutio got so flushed and yelled, “WHAT? HELL NO!” at the reporter. The people thinks the most possible to have had sex with Juliet are Romeo and Mervolio, reporters say. This is causing a huge riot between the Capulets and the Montagues, even more than ever, and Juliet is tempted to spill the beans, yet she is afraid of how they will react so she has kept silent.

My opinion essay
Was Lord of the Flies well-written?
Lord of the Flies is a very well-written book. The author has written it very descriptive. The suspense was put in excellently.
First of all, the book were very descriptive, the author gave each character personality and described everything well. The way author described everything made me feel as if I was inside the book, watching everything, the way she described Piggy and Simon’s deaths were excellent. The scene of Eric, Sam, Ralph and Piggy being attacked and fighting one another in their shelter in chapter 10 was described excellently.
Second of all, the suspense was done so wonderfully, I felt as if there was tension or excitement. The suspense were put in at appropriate times, I did not feel awkward when I read right into a suspense part.
In conclusion, this book is well-written, I enjoyed it. It is also described excellently. The suspense was put in correctly.
Novel Study 1.13.10
This book brought up several interesting things for me to think about. Things like blood mixed with wine; changing names; popular groups that only invite specific groups in and so on. The blood mixed with wine is an interesting twist in the book even if I find it mortally wrong and against my ethics and values as it is weird and strange to me. Another interesting thing the book mentioned is changing the names once you’ve entered the school. You can change your name right away without any legal progress or anything like that which I find interesting as we’d have to change our name the long and legally way; and if we’re minor we have to have an adult full out forms for us. The popular groups are nothing new to me but it’s related to my personal experiences. They are VERY annoying and very elites. They will not let just anyone in. it has to be someone special for example at my school this elite group let a girl in because of her artistic ability. They are also usually rude and snotty. I’ve noticed in this book that Zoey’s mentioned once or twice that her biological father abandoned the family when Zoey was very young at a tender age. That makes me really feel sad for Zoey as a kid growing up without a father or mother figure in life is really sad and shouldn’t be raised like that. Every kid needs a mother and father figures in their lives even if it has to be their family friend, grandparents, aunts/uncles, and so on. For example, one of my friends lives with his grandparents; another is adopted and third’s raised by her mother and grandparents. I noticed that the vampyres seems to own a car and that cars are their basic method of transportation. This make me wonder….Are all third formers sixteen like Zoey; fourth formers seventeen; fifth formers eighteen and sixth formers nineteen? Or is it seventeen to twenty? I’m not sure….oh well. I noticed there seems to be a bit of big emphasis on stalking in this book with Zoey and few other characters. Stalking is a serious issue and I’ve experienced it once in an online game; it wasn’t fun and it was ridiculously hard to get rid of him. He kept on making stupid advances on me and I kept on rejecting him, it continued for half hour or so until he disappeared on me which I was so grateful for. I noticed that in the book that the students have mentors: The teachers/adults. I found this interesting and thought it’d be a big help and interesting way for the students to get guidance. We don’t do something like that here because we have parents and family who can help us our way through our lives as we grow. However, if my school was a boarding school then I think the teachers/adults being mentors to students would be a cool idea and it’d make the students feel more comfortable like at home. I also noticed something interesting….The unusual class times. I find it very interesting that they started at 8 PM and ended at 3 AM. My school starts at 8:45 AM and end at 3:15 PM which is a typical school day. I do wish our school day started at 1 PM and finished oh around 6 PM? We teenagers need our beauty sleep and we’re always groggy when we arrive at school to learn. I also noticed that Zoey seemed very annoyed that she’s been getting lot of texts and calls from her almost-ex-boyfriend Heath. Obsessive texting and calling can be classified as stalking if the victim does not like it and it can be called cyber stalking. As I’ve mentioned earlier: Stalking is dangerous. I noticed that there seems to be lot of Cherokee references in the book which I really liked. I like learning about different cultures and religions especially native people. They are really interesting! I liked the words from Cherokee used. And the rituals were very interesting. I was amused when there was a mention that the Cherokee gene skipped Zoey’s mother because it was saving up an extra dose for Zoey herself. I also loved how they incepted many of Cherokee traits in the book and next books to come! I also was interested in some flowers/herbs and their meanings like sage, lavender and so on. Looking into what flowers means is one of my many hobbies that I enjoy. For example; did you know Daylily means enthusiasm? Or that Orchid means delicate beauty? Poppy is very fitting for Remembrance Day because it means consolation; Red roses are so common in weddings because they mean passionate love. However if red and white roses are together in banquet for wedding it means unity. Finding out color meanings is also one of my hobbies. Red means confidence/courage, blue means spirituality/truth, yellow means wisdom/joy, purple means mystery/magic, and green mean well being/life.
Evaluating Ideas and Information 1.13.10
Book review: Complete review of book
Ratings: Give a rating out of ten for: The main characters, the minor characters, the plot, the setting, the illustrations, the beginning, the end and justify.
I give Zoey *Main Character* seven out of ten stars. Because she was well-developed character that I liked but there were some things I noticed she was under-developed in. This issue changes in future books.
I give all minor characters five out of ten stars. Because there were characters I really liked *like Shaunee, Erin, Damien, Stevie Rae, Erik and Sylvia* but there were several characters I disliked and found not very developed at all.
I give the plot five out of ten stars. It’s very interesting and exciting but in few parts it was bit plain and boring
I give the setting six out of ten stars. It’s in USA and in an interesting place but I had to wikipedia it up just so I would know what it is. Plus I’m kind of biased as I’m Canadian.
I give the illusions eight out of ten stars. I liked the cover but it was bit too detailed and I didn’t see the Mark on the girl on the cover.
I give the beginning six out of ten stars. It was a bit too boring at first but I did like it.
I give the ending nine out of ten stars. I did like it but there were few parts I disliked.

Author's Purpose and Point of View 13.10
What’s the point?
I believe the author was trying to say that teenagers go through rough time with puberty, new changes from child, to teenager and finally into an adult. It’s also likely to show us what can really happen in real life? I believe the author was successful in getting its message to me, the reader. The book’s enabled me to understand how lucky I am to have understanding and loving parents even if they’re separated. Zoey’s step-father does not understand and dislikes Zoey because she refuses to listen to him, and does as she think is correct. When Zoey is Marked, her mother instantly worried about her husband, and what everyone’ll think, she do not worry for Zoey which upsets Zoey, and her step-father calls her ‘Satan’ just because she was Marked.
Between the line and behind the lines:
I believe that the author’s trying to tell me that change is part of life and that I should adjust to it as well as swim with the stream instead of against it. I don’t think the author managed to tell me something about myself I haven’t thought about before. I believe that the author has to be very creative, open-minded and wise to write a book like this.
Identifying and Summarizing Main Idea 1.13.10
Timeline
Zoey gets Marked -> Gets into argument with parents -> Escapes the house to go to Grandma -. Falls unconscious on steps -> speaks to Nyx -> Wakes up in House of Night in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her Mark filled in -> Meets Neferet and discovers about her Mark as well as Neferet being her mentor-> Meets Aphrodite for first time -> Become Stevie Rae’s roommate -> Became friends with Stevie Rae, Damien, Erin and Shaunee -> Invited to Dark Daughters -> First Taste of Blood -> Imprints with Heath -> Finds out about her new powers -> Two fledglings dies -> Goes to a second ritual by sneaking out with Dark Daughters -> While doing it, Heath walks in on it looking for Zoey, and Zoey steps in instead of Aphrodite, and does the circle with her friends’ help -> Zoey gets new markings -> Aphrodite is kicked out and Zoey is the new leader of Dark Daughters

Dialogue Journal
I have finished Marked book and it is good. It’s about Zoey Montgomery who was Marked to be a vampire. She leaves her home to go to her grandmother’s house, and falls unconscious trying to get up steps. She awakens in House of Night School for vampire, and is a third former also known as freshman. She is unique fleshing because her Mark is filled in. Zoey changes her name to Zoey Redbird. She now has to go through challenges of the Change, and the regular teenage life as well as starting over in a new school. Not to mention being leader of Dark Daughters since the current were kicked out. I liked it because it was interesting and got me hooked almost instantly. There were some parts that were sad, some parts that were great, the language used were very interesting and I liked the ideas used.
Caption Mural: That scene where Zoey, Shaunee, Erin, Stevie Rae and Damien perform their first ritual together.
By large old oak tree near a wall outside the school, five people gather underneath the tree. One of them is Cherokee black-haired girl with her crescent moon mark on her forehead fully filled in; she is holding a smudge stick with lavender and sage tied on it. She has finished smudging her four friends and is now lighting her purple candle as she prepare for the ritual. She walks east to a boy with dark brown hair and deer-like eyes. He is holding a yellow candle. The young lady, who goes by name Zoey, summons element air to the circle and lights the yellow candle. They both feel the wind around them as she walks to south to a mocha-colored skinned girl who’s holding a red candle. Zoey summons element fire to the circle as she lights the red candle. They both feel heat going around them as Zoey leaves for west where a blonde girl with blue eyes stood holding onto a blue candle. Zoey summons element water to the circle as she lights the candle. They both hear the sound of the ocean as Zoey walk to north where her roommate, a girl with short curly blonde hair is holding onto a green candle. Zoey summons element earth to the circle as she lights the candle. They both can smell the scent of springtime. Zoey then leave for the center and summons spirit to the circle.
Character Response
In Marked, Zoey had issues with Heath chasing her for her love and refusing it. I have had similar experience with my ex-boyfriends. Some keep on asking me to go out and I’ve refused often. It was very frustrating because they wouldn’t accept that I don’t like them like that.

Final Unit 1 Personal Response
In what ways has this unit helped you develop your literacy skills? Identify strength of yours that was evident in this unit, and an area that could be improved.
This unit has helped me develop my literacy skills in my personal dictionary full of words that I know, as well as how to develop a character as well as modify him through a story. I have also learned about situations that reflect on reality around us, take Lord of the Flies for example, Simon’s death could’ve happened to us if we are not aware and use our logic, as well as that being stranded on an island can change us either for good or for bad. I have also learned about different kinds of description, style, and humour, as well as how to intercept them into a story. Take Lord of the Flies for example, the author described Piggy’s death scene rather excellently, I really felt as if I was there, watching as he turned over once and hitting that square red rock on his back. I have also learned a lesson from IRP that you cannot judge a book by the cover as that I found the book I chose rather boring to read, I had thought it’d be interesting to read from the summary I read. It seems I was wrong. Reading Lord of the Flies has also helped me learn how different every writer are, as well as help me develop how I describe things. I have also learned to look deep into what the book says and not the surface, as well as to read carefully.

Romeo is Banished!!! 6.6.08
Romeo is BANISHED!!!! How did that happen? Romeo
killed Tybalt to avenge Mercutio’s death, after Romeo and Juliet got married. It was all screw up. Romeo had the understanding that now he is a part of Juliet’s family he wanted peace. But Mercutio kept being stubborn wanting to fight with Tybalt as a challenge? Besides that it isn’t necessary, but Romeo told Tybalt not to, he preferred peace like heaven. But nope, that did not help. Mercutio became aggressive to start it first. But…huh, Mercutio and Tybalt were laughing just because they both appreciated fighting like that?? In the end, when Tybalt had hurt Mercutio, everyone thought that Mercutio was joking around and thought he wasn’t that hurt, because he tended to joke a lot to his friends, and it was hard to believe that he was hurt. But yup, Mercutio was in pain. Tybalt and his group left without even caring about the Montague group. Romeo felt bitter, he decided to fight and finish him off. Romeo had killed Tybalt, his friends told him to run away from this place.
Prince Escalus had heard the bad news from the gossip, he did not appreciate that. He called the two groups of Montagues and the Capulets, to explain what was going on and what had happened, but it was hard to see which one of these groups was telling the truth. But groups told the truth, but different opinions. The Prince decided to banish Romeo for killing Tybalt. Romeo had to live in another place, he had no choice. This meant that he couldn’t come to see his family, friends, even his wife, Juliet, ever again. What a big disappointment
Tybalt found MURDERED! 6.3.08
BREAKING NEWS – During the second week of May, on a fateful Friday night, Tybalt was murdered by Romeo! During the street brawl between the Capulets and the Montagues, as usual, Romeo was involved in this incident, and he was targeting his most hated enemy, Tybalt, for the whole time. Romeo charged to him and sliced his head in half with his axe in public, mercilessly. He showed no hesitation and he hacked Tybalt with his bloody axe several times like a real sickest killer would do then, Romeo left Tybalt for dead with his murder weapon, and Romeo walked away with an evil laughter as if he really enjoyed killing Tybalt with his own filthy hands. The blood of Tybalt’s splattered all over Romeo’s body and the ground. The next morning, Tybalt, was found lying dead by the citizens of Verona. His face was terribly squashed and the ground was covered with blood. Tybalt is virtually faceless right now. You can’t even recognize him. The many citizens passing by were already sick and throwing up after seeing Tybalt’s crushed face. The police is swarming all over the scene and cleaned it up. It is a crazy murder on that night, Romeo is the sickest killer, and he’s truly a villain. The Montagues are very ashamed with Romeo’s recent actions. There were several reports that there was a sighting of Romeo near Montague’s territory. His killing style is unpleasant and the police warned that there is a possibility that Romeo will kill more of the Montague clan in the next few days. The Montagues should stay alert and never let their guards down.
