Could Juliet really be pregnant??
A reporter said she had caught a shot of Juliet at a beach and noticed her belly looked a bit swollen. She wondered “Could she be pregnant?”. Juliet admitted she was with a boy few days earlier, before Romeo was banished, yet she refused to name who she was with. Some people believe it was Romeo, some people say it was Paris, others thought it was Mercutio, Romeo’s best friend and Paris’s relative. Juliet was seen on March 25th shopping for baby clothing. Once she was seen at a local pharmacy store, buying a pregnancy test. Her father, Lord Capulet, is suspicious of her doings and has once confronted her publicly about it. How embarrassing for Juliet! A hotel guest who said that night Juliet checked in the hotel, she heard noises from the bedroom Juliet was in. “It sounded like Juliet was having sex and enjoying it” the guest said. The reporters have asked Romeo, Paris and Mercutio if they had sex with Juliet. Romeo raised his eyes and said with a devious smile, “Maybe”. Paris refused to comment and Mercutio got so flushed and yelled, “WHAT? HELL NO!” at the reporter. The people thinks the most possible to have had sex with Juliet are Romeo and Mervolio, reporters say. This is causing a huge riot between the Capulets and the Montagues, even more than ever, and Juliet is tempted to spill the beans, yet she is afraid of how they will react so she has kept silent.

My opinion essay
Was Lord of the Flies well-written?
Lord of the Flies is a very well-written book. The author has written it very descriptive. The suspense was put in excellently.
First of all, the book were very descriptive, the author gave each character personality and described everything well. The way author described everything made me feel as if I was inside the book, watching everything, the way she described Piggy and Simon’s deaths were excellent. The scene of Eric, Sam, Ralph and Piggy being attacked and fighting one another in their shelter in chapter 10 was described excellently.
Second of all, the suspense was done so wonderfully, I felt as if there was tension or excitement. The suspense were put in at appropriate times, I did not feel awkward when I read right into a suspense part.
In conclusion, this book is well-written, I enjoyed it. It is also described excellently. The suspense was put in correctly.
Novel Study 1.13.10
This book brought up several interesting things for me to think about. Things like blood mixed with wine; changing names; popular groups that only invite specific groups in and so on. The blood mixed with wine is an interesting twist in the book even if I find it mortally wrong and against my ethics and values as it is weird and strange to me. Another interesting thing the book mentioned is changing the names once you’ve entered the school. You can change your name right away without any legal progress or anything like that which I find interesting as we’d have to change our name the long and legally way; and if we’re minor we have to have an adult full out forms for us. The popular groups are nothing new to me but it’s related to my personal experiences. They are VERY annoying and very elites. They will not let just anyone in. it has to be someone special for example at my school this elite group let a girl in because of her artistic ability. They are also usually rude and snotty. I’ve noticed in this book that Zoey’s mentioned once or twice that her biological father abandoned the family when Zoey was very young at a tender age. That makes me really feel sad for Zoey as a kid growing up without a father or mother figure in life is really sad and shouldn’t be raised like that. Every kid needs a mother and father figures in their lives even if it has to be their family friend, grandparents, aunts/uncles, and so on. For example, one of my friends lives with his grandparents; another is adopted and third’s raised by her mother and grandparents. I noticed that the vampyres seems to own a car and that cars are their basic method of transportation. This make me wonder….Are all third formers sixteen like Zoey; fourth formers seventeen; fifth formers eighteen and sixth formers nineteen? Or is it seventeen to twenty? I’m not sure….oh well. I noticed there seems to be a bit of big emphasis on stalking in this book with Zoey and few other characters. Stalking is a serious issue and I’ve experienced it once in an online game; it wasn’t fun and it was ridiculously hard to get rid of him. He kept on making stupid advances on me and I kept on rejecting him, it continued for half hour or so until he disappeared on me which I was so grateful for. I noticed that in the book that the students have mentors: The teachers/adults. I found this interesting and thought it’d be a big help and interesting way for the students to get guidance. We don’t do something like that here because we have parents and family who can help us our way through our lives as we grow. However, if my school was a boarding school then I think the teachers/adults being mentors to students would be a cool idea and it’d make the students feel more comfortable like at home. I also noticed something interesting….The unusual class times. I find it very interesting that they started at 8 PM and ended at 3 AM. My school starts at 8:45 AM and end at 3:15 PM which is a typical school day. I do wish our school day started at 1 PM and finished oh around 6 PM? We teenagers need our beauty sleep and we’re always groggy when we arrive at school to learn. I also noticed that Zoey seemed very annoyed that she’s been getting lot of texts and calls from her almost-ex-boyfriend Heath. Obsessive texting and calling can be classified as stalking if the victim does not like it and it can be called cyber stalking. As I’ve mentioned earlier: Stalking is dangerous. I noticed that there seems to be lot of Cherokee references in the book which I really liked. I like learning about different cultures and religions especially native people. They are really interesting! I liked the words from Cherokee used. And the rituals were very interesting. I was amused when there was a mention that the Cherokee gene skipped Zoey’s mother because it was saving up an extra dose for Zoey herself. I also loved how they incepted many of Cherokee traits in the book and next books to come! I also was interested in some flowers/herbs and their meanings like sage, lavender and so on. Looking into what flowers means is one of my many hobbies that I enjoy. For example; did you know Daylily means enthusiasm? Or that Orchid means delicate beauty? Poppy is very fitting for Remembrance Day because it means consolation; Red roses are so common in weddings because they mean passionate love. However if red and white roses are together in banquet for wedding it means unity. Finding out color meanings is also one of my hobbies. Red means confidence/courage, blue means spirituality/truth, yellow means wisdom/joy, purple means mystery/magic, and green mean well being/life.
Evaluating Ideas and Information 1.13.10
Book review: Complete review of book
Ratings: Give a rating out of ten for: The main characters, the minor characters, the plot, the setting, the illustrations, the beginning, the end and justify.
I give Zoey *Main Character* seven out of ten stars. Because she was well-developed character that I liked but there were some things I noticed she was under-developed in. This issue changes in future books.
I give all minor characters five out of ten stars. Because there were characters I really liked *like Shaunee, Erin, Damien, Stevie Rae, Erik and Sylvia* but there were several characters I disliked and found not very developed at all.
I give the plot five out of ten stars. It’s very interesting and exciting but in few parts it was bit plain and boring
I give the setting six out of ten stars. It’s in USA and in an interesting place but I had to wikipedia it up just so I would know what it is. Plus I’m kind of biased as I’m Canadian.
I give the illusions eight out of ten stars. I liked the cover but it was bit too detailed and I didn’t see the Mark on the girl on the cover.
I give the beginning six out of ten stars. It was a bit too boring at first but I did like it.
I give the ending nine out of ten stars. I did like it but there were few parts I disliked.

Author's Purpose and Point of View 13.10
What’s the point?
I believe the author was trying to say that teenagers go through rough time with puberty, new changes from child, to teenager and finally into an adult. It’s also likely to show us what can really happen in real life? I believe the author was successful in getting its message to me, the reader. The book’s enabled me to understand how lucky I am to have understanding and loving parents even if they’re separated. Zoey’s step-father does not understand and dislikes Zoey because she refuses to listen to him, and does as she think is correct. When Zoey is Marked, her mother instantly worried about her husband, and what everyone’ll think, she do not worry for Zoey which upsets Zoey, and her step-father calls her ‘Satan’ just because she was Marked.
Between the line and behind the lines:
I believe that the author’s trying to tell me that change is part of life and that I should adjust to it as well as swim with the stream instead of against it. I don’t think the author managed to tell me something about myself I haven’t thought about before. I believe that the author has to be very creative, open-minded and wise to write a book like this.
Identifying and Summarizing Main Idea 1.13.10
Timeline
Zoey gets Marked -> Gets into argument with parents -> Escapes the house to go to Grandma -. Falls unconscious on steps -> speaks to Nyx -> Wakes up in House of Night in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her Mark filled in -> Meets Neferet and discovers about her Mark as well as Neferet being her mentor-> Meets Aphrodite for first time -> Become Stevie Rae’s roommate -> Became friends with Stevie Rae, Damien, Erin and Shaunee -> Invited to Dark Daughters -> First Taste of Blood -> Imprints with Heath -> Finds out about her new powers -> Two fledglings dies -> Goes to a second ritual by sneaking out with Dark Daughters -> While doing it, Heath walks in on it looking for Zoey, and Zoey steps in instead of Aphrodite, and does the circle with her friends’ help -> Zoey gets new markings -> Aphrodite is kicked out and Zoey is the new leader of Dark Daughters
Making Connections 1.13.10

Strategy: Making Connections.
Dialogue Journal
I have finished Marked book and it is good. It’s about Zoey Montgomery who was Marked to be a vampire. She leaves her home to go to her grandmother’s house, and falls unconscious trying to get up steps. She awakens in House of Night School for vampire, and is a third former also known as freshman. She is unique fleshing because her Mark is filled in. Zoey changes her name to Zoey Redbird. She now has to go through challenges of the Change, and the regular teenage life as well as starting over in a new school. Not to mention being leader of Dark Daughters since the current were kicked out. I liked it because it was interesting and got me hooked almost instantly. There were some parts that were sad, some parts that were great, the language used were very interesting and I liked the ideas used.
Caption Mural: That scene where Zoey, Shaunee, Erin, Stevie Rae and Damien perform their first ritual together.
By large old oak tree near a wall outside the school, five people gather underneath the tree. One of them is Cherokee black-haired girl with her crescent moon mark on her forehead fully filled in; she is holding a smudge stick with lavender and sage tied on it. She has finished smudging her four friends and is now lighting her purple candle as she prepare for the ritual. She walks east to a boy with dark brown hair and deer-like eyes. He is holding a yellow candle. The young lady, who goes by name Zoey, summons element air to the circle and lights the yellow candle. They both feel the wind around them as she walks to south to a mocha-colored skinned girl who’s holding a red candle. Zoey summons element fire to the circle as she lights the red candle. They both feel heat going around them as Zoey leaves for west where a blonde girl with blue eyes stood holding onto a blue candle. Zoey summons element water to the circle as she lights the candle. They both hear the sound of the ocean as Zoey walk to north where her roommate, a girl with short curly blonde hair is holding onto a green candle. Zoey summons element earth to the circle as she lights the candle. They both can smell the scent of springtime. Zoey then leave for the center and summons spirit to the circle.
Character Response
In Marked, Zoey had issues with Heath chasing her for her love and refusing it. I have had similar experience with my ex-boyfriends. Some keep on asking me to go out and I’ve refused often. It was very frustrating because they wouldn’t accept that I don’t like them like that.

Final Unit 1 Personal Response
In what ways has this unit helped you develop your literacy skills? Identify strength of yours that was evident in this unit, and an area that could be improved.
This unit has helped me develop my literacy skills in my personal dictionary full of words that I know, as well as how to develop a character as well as modify him through a story. I have also learned about situations that reflect on reality around us, take Lord of the Flies for example, Simon’s death could’ve happened to us if we are not aware and use our logic, as well as that being stranded on an island can change us either for good or for bad. I have also learned about different kinds of description, style, and humour, as well as how to intercept them into a story. Take Lord of the Flies for example, the author described Piggy’s death scene rather excellently, I really felt as if I was there, watching as he turned over once and hitting that square red rock on his back. I have also learned a lesson from IRP that you cannot judge a book by the cover as that I found the book I chose rather boring to read, I had thought it’d be interesting to read from the summary I read. It seems I was wrong. Reading Lord of the Flies has also helped me learn how different every writer are, as well as help me develop how I describe things. I have also learned to look deep into what the book says and not the surface, as well as to read carefully.
Juliet BETRAYED Romeo 6.4.08
Juliet went to the party to meet boys. She wore a sexy dress, looked like a slut, because she made boys like her, and she always showed up to dance. Boys wanted to dance with Juliet so badly. Some girls were jealous of Juliet because most boys liked her. They gossiped about Juliet being a slut and used all the boys for her benefit. But Juliet found one boy for her. She stopped going to the party because she got a date.
But Juliet’s date is not good for her because she changed a lot, she got thin and we can see her bones. And he controlled Juliet. But Juliet doesn’t care about it. She used him for his money, he is rich.
A few days later, Juliet killed him because she heard Romeo almost found out about her. And she doesn’t want him to know that Juliet used him for his money. Juliet got scared of people knowing it was Juliet who killed Romeo. Then, she killed herself.
Romeo is Banished!!! 6.6.08
Romeo is BANISHED!!!! How did that happen? Romeo
killed Tybalt to avenge Mercutio’s death, after Romeo and Juliet got married. It was all screw up. Romeo had the understanding that now he is a part of Juliet’s family he wanted peace. But Mercutio kept being stubborn wanting to fight with Tybalt as a challenge? Besides that it isn’t necessary, but Romeo told Tybalt not to, he preferred peace like heaven. But nope, that did not help. Mercutio became aggressive to start it first. But…huh, Mercutio and Tybalt were laughing just because they both appreciated fighting like that?? In the end, when Tybalt had hurt Mercutio, everyone thought that Mercutio was joking around and thought he wasn’t that hurt, because he tended to joke a lot to his friends, and it was hard to believe that he was hurt. But yup, Mercutio was in pain. Tybalt and his group left without even caring about the Montague group. Romeo felt bitter, he decided to fight and finish him off. Romeo had killed Tybalt, his friends told him to run away from this place.
Prince Escalus had heard the bad news from the gossip, he did not appreciate that. He called the two groups of Montagues and the Capulets, to explain what was going on and what had happened, but it was hard to see which one of these groups was telling the truth. But groups told the truth, but different opinions. The Prince decided to banish Romeo for killing Tybalt. Romeo had to live in another place, he had no choice. This meant that he couldn’t come to see his family, friends, even his wife, Juliet, ever again. What a big disappointment
Tybalt found MURDERED! 6.3.08
BREAKING NEWS – During the second week of May, on a fateful Friday night, Tybalt was murdered by Romeo! During the street brawl between the Capulets and the Montagues, as usual, Romeo was involved in this incident, and he was targeting his most hated enemy, Tybalt, for the whole time. Romeo charged to him and sliced his head in half with his axe in public, mercilessly. He showed no hesitation and he hacked Tybalt with his bloody axe several times like a real sickest killer would do then, Romeo left Tybalt for dead with his murder weapon, and Romeo walked away with an evil laughter as if he really enjoyed killing Tybalt with his own filthy hands. The blood of Tybalt’s splattered all over Romeo’s body and the ground. The next morning, Tybalt, was found lying dead by the citizens of Verona. His face was terribly squashed and the ground was covered with blood. Tybalt is virtually faceless right now. You can’t even recognize him. The many citizens passing by were already sick and throwing up after seeing Tybalt’s crushed face. The police is swarming all over the scene and cleaned it up. It is a crazy murder on that night, Romeo is the sickest killer, and he’s truly a villain. The Montagues are very ashamed with Romeo’s recent actions. There were several reports that there was a sighting of Romeo near Montague’s territory. His killing style is unpleasant and the police warned that there is a possibility that Romeo will kill more of the Montague clan in the next few days. The Montagues should stay alert and never let their guards down.

10.9.07 How I spent $1,000,000 in One Month
ASM 201
OCT 9/07
I got up off the counch and ran to my bedroom to pick up my cell phone which was lying on my pillow. I franatically dialed the number of the lottery hosts. I spoke to her about to collect the million dollars in a hour. I said “Good-bye”, hung up and bolted into the bathroom. As I entered, my feet hit cold wet floor causing me to slip and fell onto my back. Oh yeah I had forgotten I had washed the floor earlier to an accident I really rather keep secret.
I went into my room, got my clothes and went into spare bathroom down the hall, I then turned on the water, turned it onto hot side. I then held out my hand under the water to check if it was perfect. AH! OW! That’s hot! I silently said to myself, as I turn it more. Yes! The water’s perfect! I stripped down and put my clothes away, stepped into shower.
An hour later, I was at the lottery place in my favorite baby blue halter top with a heart-shape cut in middle with a navy skirt that flared out at knees, I had a gold trim at end of it with gold ribbon-like belt at start of skirt. I smiled happily at the camera with the cheaqe in my hands, a bit irritated my lovely brand-new skirt was hidden, the reporter took the camera of me. I blinked couple of times because of the flash. GAH! Why did It have to be SO bright?
When I got home, I quickly called the bank to pay off my debts any everything.
A hour later, I had hung up the phone with a smile, I quickly changed clothes so I was in my maron red halter dress that flared out few inches above knees. I then slipped into my 5-inches-tall black flip flops and gracefully ran out of the house.
A half-hour later, I was at the entrance to one of my favorite stores called “Gowns of Elegance” I walk inside and there it was on displayu, that beautiful strapless palen hot pink dress with emeralds gracing the waist. I just adore that subtle brown swirls on bottom, it’s barely there! I just adore the light brown gloves that comes with dress! It stops at my elbows with transplany pale pink laces! I have just the shoes to match it back home, I had bought the shoes earlier because I had loved it and hoped I’d find perfect dress for it. It’s toeless rosy pink heels with straps that crosses over and ends only few inches above my ankles! I grab some worker, asks for the dress in my size, she smiles “It’s last one” I jump for joy as I try it on.
Oh. My. Lord! It TOTALLY fit me! I squeal as I take it off, got dressed, walks to cashier with it in my arms when I saw the perfect necklace I needed oh SO BADLY! It was bronze chains beautifully linked with a heart-shaped emerald hanging from center, two diamond-shaped emeralds hung on one side of the heart. It was SO perfect, I just had to walk up, ask for it, went back to casher, I smile as I hand over the necklace and dress. Ouch! The dress costs 5,000 dollars, the necklace was 2.5 thousand. That’s 7.5! I thank the lady as I paid, I ran out of the store.
I arrived home, place the dress in my closet with care and the necklace in my jewelry drawer with extra care. I remembered I needed a car still, I smirk a bit as I picked up my cell phone and flopped onto my bed.
“Sam? It’s Lim, I need you to do me a wee bit tiny favor…..Come, pick me up and we’ll go to buy a new car for myself….Yes, baka, I won the lottery…..give you 500 grand? No thanks!......250 grand? No…….SAMANTHA! NO WAY WILL I GIVE YOU ALL OF MY MONEY!.......Sammy….Please….Pleasssssssssssssssssssssssssse………….Sammy!.....SAMANTHA ABDOOL!......I’m begging you……how about a penny…..Samantha…..C’mon I was only joking……” I rolled my eyes at something my best friend said “How about 500 dollars?.......1 grand?.....NO WAY WILL I GIVE YOU 100 GRAND!.....Oh whatever, 50 grand it is….SHUT UP! YOU’RE KIDDING ME! HAMMAD PROPOSED?!....Oh my lord…….SHUT UP! That wasn’t funny….C’mon over!...Kay…See ya!...Love ya….As friends, baka!....Ja ne!”
I hung up, rolled my eyes as I got up off the bed, went to my mirror, I saw my brunette hair was a mess. I sighed as I grabbed my hairbrush and started to brush my breast-length brunette hair. I need to add onto pink streaks…I ponder on it while I brush my hair.
RRrrrrring!!!
I yelp, falls onto my floor. Oh darn, it’s just doorbell I mutter to myself while I get up “C-cccoming!” I yell out as I get up, brushed my hair last time, tuck it behind my ears, run to door, open it, I yelp at same time because I got glomped.
Half hour later we were at a local Jeep store, I LOVE jeeps! I walk in the store, smile “Hi, I’m looking to buy my first car ever” I spoke sweetly. “Please and Thank you” we went outside. By 'we', I meant Samantha, the clerk and me. I turn around and saw one jeep, I collapsed, and Samantha caught me by my underarms “Lim!” I sighs “Sorry, I just saw perfect car ever!” I pointed to a bluish-grayish car, it looks like silver! The clerk smile “Excellent choice! Its cost is 100 grand” I fainted.
A month had passed and I had spent my 1 million dollars because I have my mother 50 grand, my brother 25 grand, my grandparents 100 grand each. I even got myself a airplane ticker to fly myself over to Hollywood to visit my best friend who’s world famous actress. Her name is Isabella Nimeck, she’s even considering becoming a model as well! I bought her a gift: New pale blue halter dress, it’s her favorite type of dress! Sparkles even were all over it! It cost 80 grand. I managed to get a set of DVDs, posters and plushies of my favorite TV show, they cost 10 grand each. Epensive! Ouch! Well, I adopted a new daughter since I was unable to conceive. Her name is Haruka because she reminded me of my favorite character due to her totally wild blonde hair and most greenest eyes. Sometimes I’ll call her Ruka. I managed to get pink streaks in my hair. I also got a tattoo on my back of my zodiac signs: Taurus and Monkey. It was pretty epensive since I personally asked for them to be together, Monkey in top left corner, Taurus in bottom right corner, Taurus was light brown, Monkey dark brown. They were inside a pale pink orb.

October 15, 2007
Story Name: Embarrassing day at the Theater. Oh my!
When: Last Summer
Who: Dad and me mainly
What:
Where: A movie theater in Milton
Why: We went to watch POTC and the World End
What happens: I get into the car, As I sit down, I felt something snap on my foot, I look down to see one of my favorite pair of flip flops, the right flip flop had snapped.
ROLE SHIFT Dad laughed at me
What happens: We arrive at Theater, I get out and walks in a funny way, I think it looked a mix of Drunk and Limp. Dad stared at me; he couldn’t help it but to laugh. Then I see ECD staff members, I greet them. They laughed at me
What happens: I had to take both my shoes off when I walked up the stairs as I was afraid of tripping, my first attempt of walking on a broken show up stairs, I was walking funny and managed to drop a cup of popcorn, it was lucky that the popcorn cup landed on its bottom, few popcorn fell off. Unfortunately, few staff members of ECD saw everything. Quite few laughed
What happened ENDING: I ended up carrying the broken flip flop, I limped to the car partly barefoot, I had to walk on the street and sidewalk. Everyone stared. I was very embarrassed!
Lesson of the story: ALWAYS have a backup pair of shoes with you.

A Math Story
Christmas gifts shopping…I hate them. I grumbled silently as I walked down the hallways in the large mall. It’s so hard to find good gifts for my family and friends. Not to mention staying within my budget for each one. I only have so much on me and so many to buy for. One hundred fifty dollars is my limit for my friends, two hundred dollars for family, and three hundred for my beloved ones. It’s almost impossible! Oh, look at that lovely glass ball! It has a lovely water lily in it with a frog on it! It would make a perfect gift for my mother! I walk up to the window and checked the price. My smile falls from my face upside down into a frown. It is two hundred seventy-five dollars. I decide to try to haggle, and my eyes wander to the entrance. I blinked when my eyes landed onto a sign. It says in a big bold red letters “NO HAGGLING” I sighed and went to another store, on my endless journey for perfect gifts for my family. They can be so expensive! Last year I went over my budget for everyone and wound up forgetting about getting myself a nice pool for the house because I could not afford the 100,000 dollars for the pool plans. I’ve just started getting the pool room ready, and so far I don’t want to go over my budget for Christmas or the pool plans will get postponed again.

Are letters to the editor a valuable feature in the newspaper?
Letters to the editor lets the public’s voice be heard in the newspaper. We can send letters to the editor of a newspaper if we read an article and wants to give information or to complain about it. For example, I found a letter yesterday complaining about an AD. We can also send letters regarding issues that needs to be resolved. I also found a letter regarding boom cars in Toronto and banning it. We also have every single right to express our feelings correctly, if we didn’t, there would be violence. Did you know that WW1 began because of a murder and people didn’t express their feelings correctly so they got violent? Letters in newspaper can influence new laws, some changes and some improvement. For example, a law is passed to ban boom cars and it was influenced by a letter in the newspaper.
Letters to the editor in newspaper allows complain letters and apology letters to be shown officially. For example, if I ran a company and the newspaper interviewed me, and I somehow gave wrong information, I send a letter to the newspaper apologizing for it. Another example, if I was trying to change the benefits and the boss isn’t listening, I send a letter to the newspaper so it can be put in and the public will know what is going on.
Letters to the editors are very valuable and should be kept as a feature. The newspaper would be boring and no relief from other articles. We also need to know if the newspaper got wrong information. That is why letters are important.

11.21.08 Voices
11/21/08
ENG2D
In Unit 2, the theme was “voices”. In what ways do you express your “voice”? What issues have inspired you to “speak out”?
The issues that inspired me to ‘speak out’ are issues regarding stereotyping, bullying, media issues, and some touchy subjects.
I dislike stereotyping very much because it bothers me very much, they are not true. For instance, the Canadian stereotype is that Canadians are beer-obsessed and slow-witted ice-hockey players. That is not true. Almost all Canadians I’ve met don’t play ice hockey, they’re not beer-obsessed, and some are even quick-witted.
I’m also offended by the stereotype for Deaf people; most people think that just because we’re deaf, that means we’re stupid or dumb. That isn’t true and offends me very much. I LOVE to read, to learn, and many people who have met me have described me as intelligent young lady. I may be deaf, but I know how to communicate; I simply ask for a paper and pen to write on, to point to something, to use gestures, and to bring my own paper/pen and write on it to give information. I’ve often used the paper and pen method as well as gesturing method as a mean to communicate with hearing people.
Another issue that bothers me is regarding how society views women. I’ve often read complaints about that online. It seems society thinks that every woman should be almost bone thin, to be married, and to have kids. It seems that most men still view women as weak and not valuable. Almost everywhere Mom and I go, we get doors close in our face, or men just plainly ignore us. Also, I’ve been bullied growing up because of my physical appearance. Which brings us to our next issue, Bullying.
I’ve disliked bullying very much, seeing as I’ve grown up getting bullied. I can say that bullying is a very serious issue in general, and that I believe the way people are handling bullying is extremely wrong. Each time I have gone to someone regarding bullying, they ignore it, don’t help or help very little, and I’ve gotten suspended a lot growing up because I hit people but they started it by bullying me. I love the idea of Stand Up, Anti-Bully Awareness Day. I think it really put the emphasis on how serious bullying is. I have a low esteem because of my bad childhood. The teachers who I’ve told regarding bullying rarely listen to me, because I punched or kicked the bully, they blamed me and suspended for that. It took my mom till my seventh or eighth grade to get the message I was trying so desperately to get to her: I was being bullied and the advice I received were not helpful. Now, if it wasn’t for my experiences, I never would have a tight knit with my friends who aren’t bullies. However, my experiences of being bullied had a terrible influence on me, when I get provoked, I react badly, and my self-esteem and self-confidence are quite low. I try not to let it get to me through. I think that that influence will stick with me for a long time.

PORTFOLIO
Personal Response – Hamlet
Hamlet’s various relationships caused him great inner turmoil. Discuss the issues around similar relationships for teens today, and the best ways to resolve problems.
Well, their boyfriends are physically abusing them, beating them to unconsciousness with objects, insulting them verbally, by being possessive, controlling the girls and raping them. The boyfriends also kill their girlfriends or their girlfriends commit suicide from too much pressure/bullying in their relationships. If the girls do break up with their abusive boyfriends, they are still scarred and traumatized for life. The girls may swear off boys for life, commit suicide or go lesbian.
Of course, we need to talk about other kinds of abused relationships such as abusive parent-child relationship, abusive sibling relationship, and abusive spouse relationship. They are similar to abusive love relationship expect who is doing it is different. It can leave a person scarred and traumatized for life. Often the results are suicide for the victim.
There are also those who are friends with a drug addict, law-breaker, gangster, or those who are rebels. That kind of relationship is dangerous too. Because it gets you into trouble if you’re involved with that kind of people. You help them beat up people, you help them steal things, you help them break the laws, and you help them do very dangerous things. That can result in your death.
The best ways to resolve those problems and get out of them are:
If your boyfriend is abusive, tell him to stop, if he does not listen. CALL POLICE!
Same goes for whoever is being abused or abusive.
If you are involved with dangerous people, tell them to stop, stop being friends with them, and get police to help you if needed.
Always try to stop those who are abusing you or those who are dangerous, and know what is best for you.

I like the idea of being able to carry only one under-aged passenger while you’re driving, this decrease the chance of more deaths. Teenagers are going through that phrase where they party wildly, and they’re usually drunk when they drive, and carrying more than 1 under-aged passenger in the car, with an extremely high chance of motor accident. It also decreases the chance of breaking a parent or beloved one’s heart when a teenage dies. Family, friends, girlfriend/boyfriend and people who are close to the decreased one are very grief-sicken, and there need to be low chance of that happening.
I, however think the consequences should be stricter for law-breakers, such as a high fine, few days in jail, license suspended, and the violations put on permanent record. Many people, especially young adults break the laws, and get off easily, such as small fine, one night in the jail, or let off with a warning. People who are driving these days really should think before they act. If they had thought before they act, there would’ve been lower chance of motor accidents, lower chance of law-breakers, lower risk of getting things put on permanent record, and lower chance of getting arrested or fined.
I also think this proposal should be extended to everyone else as well; it is not always young drivers’ fault for motor accidents. It can be middle-aged adults who are at fault as well. For example, there are 20 motor accidents. Let’s say 14 out of 20 are young drivers’ fault, and 6 out of 20 are adults’ fault. Sometimes it is both sides’ fault.
If I had to make a choice, it’d be supporting this idea, with the chance of my friends being angry at me for supporting this idea. Or I choose to be against it, and have a high chance of death. I think I’d choose supporting this idea. I wish to keep living, and I really don’t want more people to be upset because their loved ones are dead due to motor accidents. There are cures or research for cures for illnesses. There is also rehab for overweight, alcoholic, drug addict, and suicidal people. There are also many options for many problems. Why not let there be a solution to motor accidents? This proposal, to me is a solution to the issue of motor accidents, and careless driving.

11.3.09 How Immigration Created a Multicultural Foundation
My ancestors are from Italy. Mother’s parents are from North Italy and Middle Italy respectively. My father and his parents are from South Italy, Sicily to be exact.
Immigrants contribute to our country by giving our country a culture of its own and contributing to Canada’s multicultural reputation. They also help free up spaces for work by taking on lesser-ranked jobs such as working at McDonald’s, at fast food places, and at many others.
Lives for new Canadians from different cultures are hard at first, getting the money, getting settled down and getting ready to swear the oath in about 5 years. It’s very different and difficult because they need to learn English, to get used to different culture and laws. Most teenagers who moved here from Canada have somewhat of easier time adjusting than adults. They feel themselves Canadian once they’ve been in Canada for long time due to high schools making big impact on life while adults don’t always consider themselves Canadian, it varies by people.
The restrictions that could block an immigrant from coming to Canada are if Canada closed immigration from a country, if they’re not healthy, are not financially stable, or don’t have skills needed for labour jobs in Canada.
The circumstances where Canada would need more immigrants would be if Canada has small population and needed more or if there’re lot of issues with workers.
Ellen was Minister of Citizenship and Immigration in 1958, involved in Queen's Privy Council for Canada and Order of Canada as well as first female member of Cabinet of Canada. Ellen was member of Hamilton City Council from 1945 to 1950. When she was in her post during 1958, she introduced regulations designed to eliminate racial discrimination in immigration policy, as well as introduced more open-minded policy regarding refugees, and increased the number of immigrants allowed into Canada. Fairclough was the first female Acting Prime Minister from February 19 to 20 1958
Your policies have changed Canada for better. I thank you for it or I would never have met such awesome friends I have now. One of my best friends is a black, few others are from Asia. Your policies have changed Canada so much. It had made me open-minded and I am not racist nor are many people I know. My school is full of different cultures and people. There are students at my school who are willing to share their culture with us as well as interact with us. My home neighbourhood is very varied in culture and the food is delicious. If it has not been for you I would be so close-minded about everything such as food, clothing, culture and language. I thank you.
Thank you;

If we do not read the street signs and be careful, we may die or kill someone by accident because we are going over the allowed speed limit. We may be banned from a place for smoking because we did not read the sign and the owners banished us. I also find reading a good exercise for my brain as well as to help me relax and spend my time. If I was at a party I do not want to be at but got dragged to anyway and I am bored or tense, I can just whip out a book if I have it with me, sit down on a chair of sofa and start to read. I can just whip a book out of my backpack and read on a ride to school or home if I am bored. Reading books has always helped me relax as well as teach me about life as I like books with morals on life.
Books can teach us about what we want or need to learn about such as how to cope with separation or divorce, how to sew, food recipes and fun games. Books is both educational and enjoyment. I have always depended on reading to help me get past by in life because I will be doing lot more reading because I will need to write on a piece of paper to communicate with hearing people and get written replies in return so it is more easier than trying to use gestures.
I have often held in a laugh or just smile when people says they can’t wait till they finish high school, then they won’t need to read anymore. I generally think that is impossible to stop reading and that people have no idea how much humanity depend on reading. We read street signs, the menu in a restaurant, closed caption, subtitles, posters and well, everything! As I type this essay, I am reading what I am typing at the same time. We read what we write out as well, we can never survive without reading at all. I believe that everyone should learn how to read, no matter what the reason because reading is very very important in life, I can never emphasis just exactly how much it is an important part of life. If we do not read, we would be very behind in the news, the new things, never to buy anything, never to sell anything because everything depends on reading, even math and art. Yes, even sport-related things depend on reading. No matter how much we argue about reading, EVERYTHING depends on it.
12.10.08 Drama in Shakespearean Time Essay
First of all, let us learn about the actors. In Shakespearean time, women were not allowed to act on the stage, as it was considered not suitable for women, as well as commoner job and not honourable. So, the actors who played female parts had to be those who did not go through puberty, so they still had their high-pitched voices, and those who haven’t reached puberty. Can you imagine two men kissing? I can not! Today, the actors are both genders, women are allowed to act on stage.
Second of all, there is theatre design. In Shakespearean time, there is The Globe Theatre, also known as Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. It is in the shape of a globe, very round with open roof. In Shakespearean time, there were no manmade lights, so everyone had to perform/watch the plays in the afternoon, through using sunlight that shines through the open roof. Today theatre designs has the roof covered the theatre, and uses electricity lightning to light the place as well as the special effects to add to the overall atmosphere of the play. Today, people can watch plays get performed at all times, in early morning to late night.
Third of all, how the audience benefits from the plays. The audience benefit in various different ways, such as learning the themes, to release their stress, to get laughs, and to relax. In Shakespearean time, people relieved their stress by throwing stuff on the stage; yell at the actors, and to have fun.
In conclusion, drama in Shakespeare time was very interesting, with females not allowed to perform on stage, with open roof, and with how the audience benefits from the plays. I am glad to have learned all of this.

What is your response to the punishment that Meyer received? Did you think he should have been punished at all? Explain your answer.
I think he deserved the punishment; life sentence is enough for his role in the murdering of Canadian soldier prisoners. He encouraged his troops to kill prisoners, and he didn’t even have respect for them. I think that’s horrible and he really deserved to stay in prison for life but he got released from prison.
The soldiers who were murdered at the Abbaye have a special memorial set up in their honour. Are some deaths more worthy of special recognition than others? Based on your knowledge of the Second World War, what other circumstances can you think that might lead to special commemorations?
I’d say it really depended on what kind of person who died is, to deserve a special recognition than others. As for the circumstances, I think that people who died trying to rescue prisoners, fallen during battle, and died in bombing deserved special commemorations, as well as people sacrifices themselves for others.
Why Canada refused to accept Jewish refugees in ‘30s?
Canada was in isolation at that time, and Canadians did not like Jewish at all. Canada wanted nothing to do with foreign people, and wanted to focus on itself, instead of looking out for other people of other countries. Canada only joined the war because it saw Britain needed help badly.
How did women’s social status improve during WW1?
Lot of men were going to war in Europe, and there were barely any men old enough for war in Canada to work, so women started to leave their home to go to help work and to make supplies needed for Canada troops in Europe. Women started to do more work with lot of men away, and the government granted some woman the right to vote.
How did the French Canadians react to conscription?
French Canadians were against conscription, and wanted no part in the war, so most of them sent a reply requesting they be pardoned from the war. They also started a riot in Quebec about the conscription.
Women helped with war relief. How, you may ask. Well, lot of men went to war in Europe right? So there’re no men that are old or young enough for war in Canada right? So that leaves lot of jobs open, right? Women took this opportunity to begin to work, and to make supplies needed for troops in Europe. Women also went to Europe to be nurses also known as Bluebirds to help the injured men and to try to get them back to health so they can go back into the battlefield.
Women also helped make the Canadian society change for better. Women began to fight for their rights during WW1 by going to work, taking up the roles that only men were allowed to take up, and women earned money to keep the property of their farms.
Women started to get rights during WW1 because they began to help with war effort so much that the army men and the government simply cannot ignore the women and their war effort, so they had to grant the women rights. What rights you ask? Well, the woman got rights to vote in 1916, at first it was only women who were sisters, wives, mother, daughters of the armed men who got the rights to vote, even so it was only in provincial election. Later all women were allowed to vote in only provincial election. Today, all women are allowed to vote in provincial and federal elections.
Women played an important role during WW1. They helped with war effort and war relief. Women also helped improve the Canadian society. Thanks to women during WW1, we women have the rights and are equal to men. Now, those are my reasons why women played an important role.

Book Review
The book title is “I wrote on all Four Walls”, edited by Fran Fernley, and told by teenagers. The genre is non-fiction. This book is good, I liked the advice at the end of the book, and I liked the layout of the book. This book is a good way to reach out to other teenagers. This book is also very well-informed and accurate.
You probably know a bit about teen violence but have you ever experienced them? Are you a teenager who is experiencing violence and wants to speak out or to know that you’re not only one? Are you an adult who has a teenage child and don’t know how to handle it? This book has stories that other teenagers has written or told about. Those stories are the teenagers’ experiences and what they went through. There is advice at the end of the book.
This book is a good way to reach out to other teenagers because this book has stories that teenagers has written about their experiences. Teenagers can read this book and perhaps, get inspired to do something regarding their situation. Teen violence is still raging today and the teenagers do not know what to do, this book has just what the teenagers today need.
This book is very well-informed and accurate because the teenagers wrote their articles and sent it to this book. This book also has excellent tips and advice at the end of the book as well as provided some websites for more information.
I give this book a rating of four out of five stars. The book is one of the excellent ways to reach out to other teenagers. There are good and accurate information in the book. I really like this book. There is one small tiny thing I have to mention is that not all of the advice offered in the book works 100% but still great. I recommend this book for teenagers who are going through violence and adults with teenage children who are going through violence.
2.17.09 Blizzard
Blizzard is caused by low pressure system, moisture and high winds. Once there is moisture in clouds, they fall into cold air forming snows then when there are high winds, there tend to be lot of snow flying around in the heavy winds.
Blizzards are most common in north-western, north-eastern parts of USA, and all of Canada. Blizzards also occur frequently in Europe through mostly in Russia, and Northern Asia. Blizzards also occur in North Pole. I think Blizzards are associated with landforms where there are usually cold weather and snow.
Blizzards can cause power outages, frozen pipes, phone service to go out of order, heat to go out, and power to go out. Blizzards also cause frostbites and extreme cold temperatures. Blizzards also have an effect on having people being confined to their houses or wherever they are staying in. Blizzards also cause heavy winds that can topple cars, trucks, houses, and lights over. Blizzards can last for days to weeks. Blizzards also cause Hypothermia. Blizzards also cause the roofs to collapse because of heavy snow.

Analog is old, digital is new.
Analog has bad quality, digital take fast to load and is best quality.
Digital camcorder you can plug in computer, analog you can’t.
Analog’s formats are old-fashioned, black/white, film-like, traditional and VHS. Digital’s formats are new, color, digital-like, modern, and DVD.
Digital Television you can have many channels, watch anime, cartoons, play video games, watch movies on DVD, you can have closed captions installed instantly, has best quality, has color, no antennas needed, is popular and in high demand.
DTV Means Direct-to-video. Broadcasters have to change to it because it is quicker and modern. Who knows when they switched.
Existing Television antennas still work.
Analog television has to be converted to digital television system before receiving a digital signal.
It cost very much for analog television system to covert to a digital television system.

Gossip Girl, All I want is anything
Category A, #3: In what ways is the reading challenging? What strategies are you using to help you overcome these challenges? Are you glad you selected this book? To whom would you recommend this book? Why?
The challenges I ran into while reading this book was finishing it in time and motivation to finish the book. I managed to finish it by motivating myself that my teacher wouldn’t be pleased if I didn’t finish. That and I never read two books at same time. So, if I wanted to get onto another book, I had to finish this book. I also had to force myself to finish it.
Nope, I am not glad I chose this book as I was disappointed by the book, the cover and summary on the back tricked me into reading this book. The summary hinted that this book was decent. It is a big waste of my time I could’ve spent sleeping on the bus, talking to friends or writing something in my personal story journal.
I would not recommend this book to anyone as I personally think this book did not deserve to be published or to be read. I am sure that if anyone who has read this book would feel same thing I do. This book has no plot; either that or it is confusing. It looks as if the writer has no writing style, and the characters were really undeveloped. I really got nothing from this book, not even a hint of emotion. There is lack of description. I also did not get the theme from this book. The format of this book is terrible. If I had to give a rating, it would be zero out of five stars. If I could, it’d be negative five out of five stars. The characters are very flat, I felt like they all shared very similar personalities.
Category A, #1: What predictions did you make before starting to read? Explain how your predictions were correct or incorrect.
I made few predictions that the book would be about a girl who all she ever is anything; she manages to get something in the end. I also thought that there would be lot of gossip involved. The setting I had predicted would be at a high-school. My predictions were incorrect because there is no gossip around; the setting is not high school, and the plot? Confusing! This book does not connect to the title at all. There is barely any gossip. The setting is a college and some other places. The characters are college-age, or high-school age. It is hard to tell. The book hardly connected to the summary or the title. It went off-topic.
Category B, #3: Do you think this book is believable: Why or why not? (Theme)
I am sure if I think this book is believable, because it is for teens, and has few situations connecting to teenagers but at the same time, I did not feel as if I was a part of the story, or even watching from affair. Also, there is no plot, the characters are unbelievably flat, and I could not nitpick the theme out. I really cannot say anything else.
Category B, #8: Which part of the book made you feel most curious? Discuss. (Style)
I would say it had to be the cover and the summary. The cover caught my attention with its picture, colors, style, title and subtitle. The summary really sparked my interest and curiosity to read this book. The summary hinted that the book was good. The book was not good at all, it hardly connected to anything. It broke my curiosity and interest on first few pages of the book.
11.23.09 Aboriginals Struggle
How Aboriginals Struggle to Be Equal
I know when I’m not being treated fairly because it’s instinct. We were brought up to know what’s fair and what isn’t. For instance, when I’m waiting in line and people line-jump, it is not fair to me because they’re making me wait longer because they’re lazy to wait.
I believe life for Aboriginals in Canada today still is hard and frustrating because of their original land and reserves are being taken over by the government and all that. They are still struggling to keep their culture, traditions and language as they were forcibly assimilated and sent to boarding schools.
I believe that the Aboriginals themselves should look after the rights of their people rather than the government and the court system as they were original occupants of this land, and we’re taking advantage of them which isn’t fair to them.
Dear Jasper Cinquet;
I have read your letter regarding you and your people, and I found it interesting. I agree with you that Canada and its government should do something to help you and your people. Perhaps letting your people be allowed to look after their own rights as well as their businesses, lands, culture, etc etc would help as well as giving your people more reserves since you Aboriginals after all were first ancestors of our country. If we had acknowledged your language as one of official languages, it’d help your people more to know that you’re getting respect needed. It’ll also help that if we put more effort into the investigation whenever one of your people get into a crime or something happened than half-hearted investigation like with The Helen Betty Osborne Murder case. There are many things we Canada can do to help you and your people, Jasper.
From;
